These are the remaining Texas home games in Austin as of September 9, 2026. Times below are Central Time; a start window is not a confirmed kickoff.

Watch the city, not just the opponent. Texas–Oklahoma on October 10 is at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Texas–Texas A&M on November 27 is in College Station. Neither is an Austin home game.
October 24: the fall supernova. Texas hosts Ole Miss during F1's October 22–25 weekend at COTA. Football fans and race fans arrive for the same weekend. Choose the main event and sort the house, dinner and rides early. Trying to casually fit both into Saturday is how the itinerary becomes a group project nobody wanted.

Decide: stadium, tailgate or watch party?
The stadium crew
Make seats the first group decision. Does everyone need to sit together, or would nearby blocks work? Compare the full ticket price including fees, the exact rows and the transfer terms before anyone pays. A screenshot in the group chat is not a ticket strategy.
Texas uses mobile tickets. Download them to your phone's digital wallet before arrival, use the gate on your ticket, and complete transfers before splitting up. Ticket screenshots are not accepted.
The pregame crew
Build around a confirmed hosted tailgate or a pregame venue. Ask what admission includes, when it starts, whether your full group can enter together and what happens if kickoff changes. Don't assume a parking space includes a tailgate setup or that a tent you spot is open to everyone.
The watch-party crew
Confirm that the venue will show the game with sound, whether it takes group reservations, and any minimum spend or time limit. Seats, food and a screen can beat six hours of negotiating with the least interested football fan in the group.

Build Saturday around kickoff

The following is a planning outline, not a promise about event hours. Confirm the game's final kickoff before locking in reservations.

Sort the boring things once

Choose the house for the whole weekend. Check its location against campus, dinner and your other activities. A map pin marked “Austin” does not tell you how the group will get home after the game. Explore Austin stays.
Agree on both rides. Set a pickup point, a driver contact and a return plan before leaving. Allow for traffic restrictions and a walk to the agreed meeting point. Avoid promising a fixed downtown-to-stadium walking time without checking your actual starting address and the group's needs.
Pack for entry. Texas permits clear bags up to 12 × 6 × 12 inches and small clutches under 4.5 × 6.5 inches. Regular gates open two hours before kickoff. Check the current entry instructions with your tickets before leaving the house.

Price the weekend you actually want
Use current quotes for tickets, the stay, pregame plans, meals and transport. Compare the same headcount and number of nights across dates. Ask about fees, deposits, cancellation terms and anything priced per vehicle rather than per person.

Quick answers
Do we need game tickets to have a football weekend?
No. A confirmed watch party or pregame event can provide the shared occasion. Stadium entry requires a valid ticket; check admission rules separately for any hosted event.
Can we do the game and a Lake Travis boat trip on Saturday?
We recommend separate days. The marina transfer, boarding time, return trip and stadium entry leave little room for delays. A relaxed Friday boat outing and a football Saturday are easier to enjoy.
What if the kickoff time isn't final?
Keep that part of Saturday flexible. Before paying deposits, ask how dinner, transport and pregame bookings handle a schedule change.
